Welcome to The Weavers Studio
On the afternoon that I “soft launched” The Weavers Studio (aka sent it to my parents), my Mom, herself a weaver, responded with this:
“The warp of a weaving is the strength of a piece, while the weft weaves the hope.”
I had already named the company. But this re-instilled the vision behind it. More on this later. First, some background on the name itself:
As me and my brother were growing up, my Mom was a “modern shepherdess” (now part of the “old-school” fiber artists). I grew up with a herd of sheep twenty steps from my bedroom window. At the time it was “miserable” to listen to their “bahs” all day long, herding them into pastures, sheering them, lambing, and the rest. This was in Montana, the winters were COLD!
Of course, now I look back with such gratitude and nostalgia. I would give anything to go back to a time where my largest responsibility was to bottle a lamb.
Eventually, all of this hard farm work would culminate with the wool turned to fiber, and transformed into art through spinning and weaving.
When I was in grade school, my Mom joined forces with one of her best friends and would weave within his studio, The Weavers Studio, in our town of 300 people. I would walk to this space every day after school. There was something special about it. After hard school days (I was teased), it felt safe and like I belonged.
Since, I’ve learned a lot more about the value of our connection to our earth, the importance of creativity, and the power of community.
I named The Weavers Studio in honor of my own story, and to honor the feminine tradition of weaving—an art that transcends cultures and generations, connects the weaver and their community to nature through textile, and has empowered women throughout history.
And with that, the vision:
The Warp: My passion and talents are at the intersection of design and community. They come alive through curating events, gifts, and other experiences that deepen relationships. Complementing this, I thrive in planning strategy and operations that build and nourish brand and community in ways that are thoughtful, yet scalable.
The Weft: I’m equally passionate about contributing to meaningful environmental and social progress. Deeply aware of the power and impact of our decisions, I choose to work with clients, vendors, and collaborators that stand for inclusiveness, opportunity, and sustainability in their work.⠀I stand for supporting small businesses, and giving back to organizations that progress these values at scale.
Thank you for following along on this journey. I can’t wait to share with you.
